Tall Davie

Hi everyone here is the Davie story.......

Davie must be the tallest teacher in Malawi, he towers over everyone. He is the most wonderful young man. Davie joined Mphatso Children’s Foundation nearly 3 years ago. He hadn’t completed his schooling so with some of his wage each month he was able to go to Night School and finish his education. In November of 2009 he went for an interview to apply for a place at the Government funded Teachers college at Karonga about a 7 hour drive from here, north. He has just been to give me his resignation letter, I said I didn’t know whether to hug or hit him. I am so proud of him and thrilled that all his hard work is reaping rewards BUT we will miss him. He teaches over 150 kids at the Chituka Nursery School and he has those kids hanging off every word. He says arms up etc and there is total silence, not from fear but because they love him so much. Here is his letter, as I received it.....

 Dear Madam,

May I inform you that I would like to resign from teaching in your Nursery School. The ending month is April 30th 2010.    I have resigned because I have been successfull in an interviews of teaching which was held on 16th November, 2009 at District Education Management office at Nkhata-Bay. As a result of this, we shall commence the course on 2nd May 2010 at Karonga Teachers Training College (TTC).    I hope the experience gained from Mphatso School, will help make my course much easier.  I would like to end by thanking you very much during my years staying with you.    You have always been kind to me thus why my work was so simple. May God bless you with your Family.  Yours faithfully Davie M Chiya.
