OUR MISSION

Feed the children, grow the community and impact the future

Group of children in Malawi

Nursery Schools

A cornerstone of Mphatso Children's Foundation. We believe that slow positive change must come from taking part in the community. Each school day we feed more than 1,000 children through our 13 nursery school programs, which are spread along a 40km stretch of Lake Malawi.

Children need good nutrition to develop physically and academically in order to reach their full potential.

Good nutrition is critical to a child’s development

A bowl of porridge provides children with one good meal a day, regardless of their family circumstance. Especially important during the "hungry months" between crops.

Nursery Schools also provide a rich, stimulating classroom environment with educators. The children learn numeracy, literacy and are developed physically and socially through an interactive program, better preparing them for school and increasing regular attendance.

Individual sponsorship is provided for students showing academic ability, good character and a willingness to learn. Some children are sponsored through private secondary school and even university. This opportunity impacts their future, their family and their community.

To grow a community you need to be a part of a community

Mphatso seeks to do this in both formal and informal ways. Informally, Mphatso provides a fun and safe environment in which children can play. Toy animals, cars, dolls, and dress-ups are used almost daily by children after school. Mphatso also provides sporting equipment and sponsorship to local football and netball teams. In a more formal capacity, Mphatso Children's Foundation provides sewing groups, a book club, a Positive Women's Living group, and Bible study groups where people from the community can gather together, support each other and learn together.

We endeavour to work alongside our staff and community leaders to relieve the effect of poverty in our communities. The lives that we impact now are the ones that will impact the future of Malawi.

Help us to make a real difference in the lives of the Malawi community
